Preface

This document outlines how to access and use the devices over Cloud1 for out-of-band management in EVE-NG on Cloud My Lab infrastructure.

Audience

This document is intended for use by Cloud My Lab customers. It can be used by anyone working in the Information Technology Sector.

Scope

The scope of this document is to specifically, ensure that the user understands EVE-NG environment.

Common use cases

  1.  Access devices GUI from Jump box for devices like Palo Alto, ASA, Fortinet etc. directly from Jump box.
    1. Benefits
      1. Management is easier
      2. Backup and restore configuration and send it to yourself
      3. Licensing the device for lab use
  2. Copy files to windows and Linux machines
  3. Access to the internet required by the devices to update configurations, versions, firmware licensing.
  4. Network programmability interface: Add an Ansible/Chef/Puppet, Linux machines to try and see how the devices can be managed programmatically.

Management Subnet Details

For every customer, we have created a /24 IPv4 pool as the default configuration, this can be upgraded on request.

We have allocated the first 3 IP addresses for your services, please do not use that. We also run DHCP server over the management network to ease the allocation of the IP addresses to the devices inside the EVE-NG server.

We allocate you the following IPv4 pool: 172.16.14.0/24

How to use management subnet?

Follow the step by step guide to setup your device over the management subnet:

  1. Login to EVE-NG server and create/open your lab.
  2. On the canvas, right click and choose the option “Network”.

  3. From the drop-down select the type “Cloud1”. You can enter the Name/prefix as per your own convenience.

  4. Now connect your desired device to the Cloud1 network.

  5. Depending on the type of the device, enable the interface to fetch the IP address via DHCP server.
